Events in the Eternal City

Rome is getting ready for a 2009 full of all kinds of events, including music, theatre, sport, culture and religion etc.
If you want to go to one of these, now is the time to book un appartamento Roma in the city centre, and take advantage of the offers which can be found by booking last minute.
In any case, while I was surfing on the net for a bit, I was trying to put together all the main events of the “Eternal City”, to know when they would take place later on. Here’s the the list:

• 22nd March: Rome Marathon

• 10th April: The Walk of the Cross in the Vatican – Good Friday
• 12th April: The Pope’s Blessing in the Vatican – Easter
• From the 18th to the 26th April: Cultural week (11th edition)
• 21st April: Anniversary of the birth of Rome
• 27th April-3th May: BNL Italian Internationals
• 1st May: 1st May Festival in Piazza San Giovanni
• 8th-9th May: ‘Dissonanze’ (Electronic and Digital Art Festival)
• 22nd-25th May: International Horse Riding Competition (76th edition)
• 27th May: Champions League Final
• 2nd June: Italian Republic Holiday
• From 12th to 18th June: International Festival of short films and new images (17th edition)
• June: International Literature Festival in Rome (Dates not fixed)
• 24th June: Saint John
• 28th-29th June: Holiday for Saint Peter and Paul
• July: Festival ‘Roma Europa’: theatres, concerts and dances (Exact dates haven’t been found yet)
• 15th-30th July: ‘Noantri’ holiday: Popular and traditional holiday

• 15th August: Holiday for Assumption – ‘Ferragosto’
• Middle of September: ‘White Night’

• 8th December: Holiday due to the Immaculate Conception in Piazza di Spagna

I’ve put the most important events in bold that it would be a shame to miss in bold. Regarding accommodation, you can always choose an appartamento a Roma, which is a valid and cheaper alternative to a normal hotel.
